The Business Development Manager will support the partners and the Senior Business Development Manager in Singapore to develop and execute business development and marketing initiatives.


This is a proactive, hands-on role and will be instrumental in developing a strategic, market-leading approach to business development and marketing, to help the Firm win, retain and grow business.

The role will enhance Kennedys' profile within the Singapore market and help to strengthen client relationships.


The individual will also be part of the APAC regional team, working closely with colleagues in Australia and Hong Kong.

They promote Kennedys brand, it's niche insurance and commercial practices, exceptional service, collaborative culture and ground-breaking technology. It also finds distinctive ways to promote the knowledge of our lawyers and help clients think ahead.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project manage local and regional pursuits and support the Pursuits team in responding to global tenders and rate exercises.
  • Support the planning and execution of targeted marketing campaigns drawing together the full MarComms mix events, sponsorship, web, press, social media and marketing collateral. Working closely with partners, the broader marketing team and Corporate and Public Affairs department.
  • Support the coordination of legal directory and award submissions for the Singapore office.
  • Support the planning and delivery of a local programme of seminars/webinars, client events and conferences. Working collaboratively with the Senior BDM and partners to suggest targeted business development, industry partnerships and marketing programmes to increase brand profile and generate networking opportunities.
  • Work with the Senior BDM and partners locally to help drive the plans for the Firm's key clients and product groups, contributing to plans and ensuring local objectives are delivered.
  • Work with the Senior BDM to contribute to global publications, thought leadership and diversity initiatives, and support the development of local thought leadership aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Support the production and development of marketing materials, including website content, newsletters, brochures, articles, book chapters, other legal publications and promotional materials, including liaising with the partners, relevant feeearners and publishers, layout and design.
  • Assist with external communications opportunities such as press opportunities, news for social media, award submissions, negotiating sponsorships, articles and press commentary. Work with the Senior BDM to coach partners and fee earners in using social media channels to create stronger employee advocacy and to use social media as a business generator.
  • Act as an advocate of the firm's contact database InterAction ensuring data is current and segmented to support targeted reporting, emarketing and events. Ensure lawyers are tracking all local BD activities and generate regular reports on client BD to help inform and advise the business on ROI.

Required experience

  • Clientcentric with demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities, building strategic relationships and networks.
  • Experience in a business development role, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Sound knowledge of insurance sector and/or Singapore market would be an advantage.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and strong work ethic with a willingness to accept ownership of and follow up on tasks without prompting.
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects and negotiate deadlines
  • Service delivery focused
  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with change
