    Roles & Responsibilities

    We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and dedicated Special Education professional to join our ExtraOrdinary organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective instruction and support to children with special needs in a non-school setting with a view to enabling them with the skills necessary to lead independent lives.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Plan, implement and evaluate individualized training programs (ITPs) for children with special needs in agreement with caregivers.
    • Design and adapt interaction session(s) to meet the needs of individual child with a goal of enabling them to be proficient in independent living skills.
    • Provide direct instruction to children with special needs through interactive play, in small groups or individual settings.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to create a positive learning environment for children with special needs.
    • Plan and set developmental goals, monitor and document progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
    • Provide behavioral support and intervention as necessary to ensure success for children under our care in the Integrated Program. Knowledge of, or experience with children with sensory needs will be an advantage.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and staying current with best practices in special education.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including ITPs, progress reports, updates to caregivers and other relevant documentation as necessary.
    • Communicate regularly with caregivers and work with them in implementing strategies in the home environment in furtherance of individual living skills imparted.
    • Participate respectfully and provide constructive input as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

    Job Requirements

    • Degree in Education or Psychology or a related field. Diploma in Special Education.
    • At least 2 years of experience working with children with diverse abilities and intellectual learning needs. Fresh graduates may be considered.
    • Strong knowledge of behavior management and classroom management.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and work well with others as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies for children with special needs. Shortlisted candidates will be required to exhibit this job requirement.
