Job Description:
OVERVIEW
The News Desk News Assistant is an essential team member in our newsroom, ensuring CNBC offers world-class content on global business and finance through guest interviews.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with show teams to pitch company executives and industry experts to appear on CNBC Asia Pacific programmes
- Learn the fundamentals of TV news production and work as part of a team to secure the best guests first and exclusively for the network
- Meet and greet Csuite per and key industry stakeholders at CNBC Studio located at SGX Centre
- Set guests up for interviews at the studio or virtually
- Interact with guests prior to their interview segments on the TV shows
- Create daily highlights and send them to key clients and affiliates
- Learn how major global news networks react to breaking news and cover them with guests professionally
- Learn how to pitch to news makers and market movers to come on to CNBC TV shows for interviews
- Grow and build relationships with guests, companies, PR agencies and various financial institutions around the region
- Gain and enhance knowledge in business and finance as well as the develop fundamentals of being a journalist (story selection and development)
Qualifications:
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
- Keen interest in business, financial and/or current affairs
- Strong communication skills and multitasking capabilities
- Team player who displays flexibility to work varied hours depending on business needs
- Ability to handle tight deadlines and to work under the demands and pressure of daily live programming
- Prior internship experience in TV News Production or Public Relations would be advantageous
- Fluency in English is essential. Speaking and writing a second language would be advantageous
- Energetic, proactive and willing to learn
- Relevant university degree including, journalism, communications, media or business/economics
