The Future Ready Food Safety Hub (FRESH) is a tripartite initiative between A*STAR, SFA and
NTU.

It serves as Singapore's lead safety science platform under the Singapore Food Story R&D Programme and is tasked with bringing together researchers, regulators and industry to build up Singapore's food safety R&D capabilities and ultimately help secure Singapore's food supply and economic value proposition.


We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, and resourceful team players to join our team As the Operations & Business Development Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for key operations and business development functions for FRESH.

This includes contracting, budget planning and cashflow management, and compliance management to grant terms.

This post will also support the development of FRESH business development strategy, including the development and execution of FRESH's long-term sustainability plan.


This is a key role that has both external and internal facing responsibilities and is essential to ensure FRESH operates as a valued service provider to Singapore's rapidly expanding future food ecosystem.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Operations management:
  • Contract preparation and management for FRESH external engagements-
  • Financial management of FRESH core accounts and projects. Includes administration of invoicing, payment, and account receivables and financials accounting and reporting. Assists FRESH Director and Deputy Director on annual budget planning.-
  • Implementation and maintenance of SOPs and administrative processes to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of FRESH-
  • Procurement assistance and goods receipt recording for FRESH lab-
  • General grant reporting and compliance-
  • Business development
  • Communicate about and help promote FRESH science-
  • Help broker partnership deals with industry and public sector collaborators-
  • Help identify and secure new funding resources / revenue streams for FRESH, including exploring consortium partnership model(s) for FRESH-
  • Remain abreast of ecosystem activities and industry trends and provide benchmarking analysis to FRESHQualification requirements:
  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in scientific management preferred or science degree with a minor in business related studies, with 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong interest in the novel food industry; solid industry connections a plus
  • Direct experience and aptitude for finance and operations management, project management training a plus.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, knowledge of the food industry a plus
  • Motivated individual who is able to work both independently and in a team setting-
  • Proficient in using Google docs, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, experience with Workday and SAP a plus
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with a keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
