Role Responsibilities

  • Transformational Change (TC) Programmes deliver the most critical outcomes to enable the Bank's future success. They are often time sensitive and involve complex structures and multiple dependencies to deliver a common outcome. TC initiatives can be stand alone or a collection of initiatives. Some TC initiatives are designated 'Platinum' which means they require regular oversight by the Group Management Team and the plc Board.
  • The ECM TC Assurance team will leverage the experience and expertise of our TTO Management Team who perform regular Peer reviews on our Platinum Programmes to determine if these Programmes are setup for successful delivery. The TC Assurance team has a mandate to help improve the likelihood of successful delivery of our most important Programmes. This will be achieved by addressing the area(s) of concern raised by TTO MT members in their Peer reviews. This will involve a handson approach to understand the issue(s), propose practical solutions and actively help the Programme implement the proposed solutions. It is crucial for the ECM TC Assurance team members to have extensive knowledge in managing large transformations Programmes, or to have worked within large complex transformation Programme Management Offices to improve Programme Management practices.
  • The ECM TC assurance team will also be responsible for providing independent health checks across the remaining TC Programmes to ensure the Programme structures are setup for success, increase confidence in the reported progress of such initiatives to Senior Management and determine whether policies, standards and key controls are adequately met. Endtoend reviews are performed to assess the use of adaptive planning and continuous improvement principles throughout the change delivery lifecycle from Ideation through to Embed.
  • A final but important aspect of the role is to support the Strategic Investment Review Forum (SIRF) to make informed decisions about the allocation of TC funding. This includes analysis of proposals, challenging where the proposals appear ambiguous, optimistic and potentially preventing inappropriate proposals from progressing to the SIRF.

Business

  • Help potential TC Programme leads understand what is required by the SIRF to request TC funding.
  • Independently review SIRF submissions, accepting or rejecting them with unambiguous feedback.
  • Fulfil the role of trusted advisor to Businesses / Functions regarding implementing the Change Governance Policy and change delivery standards.
  • Represent the ECM function in meetings with internal and external parties (Group Internal Audit, regulators, auditors etc) relating to governance, agile transformation and nWOW Standards.
  • Review the Programme structure and embedding of Programme governance practices to ensure the Programme is setup for success.

Processes

  • Partner with the Platinum Programmes leads to address the issues and recommendations identified in the Peer reviews. A handson approach to understand the issues, propose practical solutions that align with the banks Policies, Standards and embedding best practices. Actively implement solutions for the Programme to improve Programme Management practices
  • Perform timely independent and objective health checks across the TC investment portfolio, reviewing key data attributes, backlogs and key artefacts developed by the teams.
  • Perform assurance of a TC initiative both by analysing system data and through dialogue with practitioners
  • Develop a report to articulate the health of a TC Programme, capturing findings and recommendations which help to reduce risk of delivery.
  • Track all agreed recommendations to completion, ensuring they are appropriately resolved in a timely manner, escalating where not the case.
  • Maintain central documentation to enable active participation in continuous improvement of the TC assurance framework and the wider Change Management governance.
  • Develop and maintain a library of lessons learnt to share best practices across the Investment Community
  • Deliver training, brown bag working sessions with Programme stakeholders to improve Programme Management practices
  • Proactively identify trends and systemic issues through the analysis of assurance findings over time.
  • Actively seek and share findings with 2LOD and 3LOD to minimise detrimental impact that assurance might have on practitioners.
  • Perform adhoc reviews of ongoing delivery, as required.

People & Talent

  • Install and promote a culture of innovation within the investment community.
  • A commitment to ensuring feedback from key stakeholders is acted upon and incorporated into the future direction of the bank.
  • Live the values and behaviours of the bank
