What the role is

  • The Water Reclamation Network (WRN) Department aims to collect and convey all used water for reclamation cost effectively and reliably. This is done through three key functions
  • Planning & design of sewerage infrastructures; Network operation and maintenance; and Project management.

What you will be working on

  • As a Engineer/Senior Engineer/Asst Director with WRN, you will be responsible but not limited to the following roles:
(A) Operation Team


  • Conduct inspections on trade premises to ensure that they have in place in-house programmes and facilities to ensure trade effluent are adequately pre-treated before discharged into the sewers
  • Conduct inspections on eating establishments to ensure that they have in place in-house programme and grease traps to ensure trade effluent are adequately pre-treated before discharge into sewers
  • Conduct inspections on private onsite sewerage facilities and maintain onsite sewerage facilities controlled by PUB
  • Conduct source-tracing exercises to identify illegal dischargers which caused process disruptions to water reclamation process
  • Conduct ambushes on suspected dischargers
  • Conduct investigation and enforcement work on any person and entity including trade premises and eating establishments that infringed legislations
  • Conduct public engagement with trade premises and eating establishments on matters related to trade effluent discharge
  • Explore technologies and data analytics to enhance existing surveillance and enforcement programme
(B) Regulatory Team


  • Plan and execute surveillance and enforcement programme to ensure factories and eating establishments comply to legislations; Programme include assess risk profile of factory and inspection intervals, perform inspections on factory, lead investigation work into non-compliance, and factory engagement, etc.
  • Review and propose amendments to legislations to address emerging needs
  • Plan and execute source tracing exercises to illegal dischargers and ambushes on suspected dischargers
  • Plan and execute engagement programme to raise awareness and education to industries and other stakeholders on trade effluent discharge
  • Build manpower competence and technologies capability to enhance existing surveillance and enforcement programme
  • Plan, review, execute and manage procurement contracts and technological projects
  • Work with other Branches to resolve public feedback cases involving illegal discharge into sewers and grease encrustations causing flow impediment issues

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical and Electrical as well as other relevant disciplines)
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications
  • Confident with IT systems, new technologies, and data analysis
  • Possess Class 3 or 3A driving licence
  • Independent, resultoriented and selfdriven team player.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
