Job Description:


Position Summary


The Project Manager, NPI Sourcing is responsible for sourcing project management and execution in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.

This is a cross-functional leadership role with responsibility for project management and accountability for milestone deliverables.

This role is a central Sourcing interface, to manage effective engagement with suppliers, development teams, and commodity leaders, to deliver on-time-to market product, best in class cost, and supply continuity, while mitigating supply chain risk.

This individual must have the ability to work independently and quickly identify opportunities.


Key responsibilities

New Product Introduction Process

  • Lead early supplier engagement in Rockwell Automation's Common Product Development (CPD) process and drive material cost improvement activities to support the NPI team's product cost targets.
  • Reduce product risk through proper sourcing strategy execution. Drive use of 'Preferred' suppliers. Provide NPI team with supply chain risk assessments which include obsolescence, delivery, currency, logistics, political and other risks.
  • Drive execution of ISC NPI Supply Chain Material Readiness (SCMR) which includes the utilization of the ISC NPI Part Tracker and Critical Part Process risk management
  • Project manage the communication and activities between the NPI team and Sourcing/Procurement. (i.e. source selection, supplier negotiations, sourcing strategy development, supplier issue resolution, etc.) Facilitate the establishment of supply management parameter guidelines with buyers and planners.
  • Drive NPI sourcing process improvements through elimination of variation and waste, focusing on continuous process improvement. Promote Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology in the NPI team.
  • Interface and build strong working relationships with Development Engineering, New Product Producibility Engineering, Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Industrialization Planning, Component Engineering, Business Unit Management, Operations Management, Marketing and Finance.
  • Conduct tasks in accordance with all applicable health, safety, quality and environmental regulations & laws as well as Rockwell Automation policies and procedures.
Policies and procedures include but are not limited to:
Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & ISO 14000.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or business field.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience at strategic sourcing, new product introduction, category/product management or project management.
  • Project Management (PMP) certification required
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

Key Competency Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects / assignments requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain and production principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills in a dynamic new product introduction environment and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • High energy, selfdriven and enthusiastic about opportunities for indepth NPI sourcing strategy execution.
  • Strong project management skillsets to comfortably lead cross functional and multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to make difficult decisions and drive execution of correct supply chain solutions.
  • Welldeveloped problem solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to assess business impacts of different decision paths (e.g. costbenefit analysis), and translate strategies into concrete action plans.
  • Tenacity to drive action plans to meet project schedule and deliverables, especially in terms of material readiness for proto builds, pilot build and product launch.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) to various levels of the organization.

Travel
This position will be required to travel when necessary (< 20%) to Rockwell Automation and supplier locations
