Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore.

Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.


SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes.

SAM is working towards a humane and sustainable future by committing to responsible practices within its processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and implement public programmes which include a variety of formats that includes talks, workshops, tours, lectures, roundtable discussions, including material for virtual purposes, that cater to abroad range of audiences, with different interests, learning styles and needs. The events are usually conducted onsite but can be developed as offsite oronline; and, will be offered at different levels, from the broadbased and to the more focused.
  • Consider Access as an important focus in programmings core work, and design programmes that would bring audiences to the collection and to the changing exhibitions.
  • Be open to global conversations and concerns on accessibility and inclusivity, and to see how to appropriate these conversations onto the museums role.
  • Be open to designing innovative and experiential formats that would allow different groups of audiences to experience art.
  • Coordinate programmes in conjunction with SingaporeArt Museums exhibitions.
  • Cater a variety of programmes for the public, that would drive visitors of different demographics to Singapore Art Museum.
  • Provide administration and logistic implementation for the tasked programmes.
  • Work with external parties and stakeholders, including vendors, small arts companies, and institutions, alongside artists to develop and implement programmes for the year.
  • Coordinate with other divisions e.g. marketing and communications teams on the publicity collaterals, including content development of above events via social media; with event management teams and other administrators and curators, on the programmes setup and implementation.
  • Write programme descriptions and content for platforms such as the SAM website, ticketing platforms, electronic direct mailers etc.
  • Manage registrations, attendances, feedback and gather impact or satisfaction surveys for Programmes, and maintain an active participant database.
  • Manage, collate and provide analytics on overall budgets, satisfaction, audience reports, feedback, etc
  • Manage an active database of relevant programme content contributors, speakers and facilitators
  • Manage archival of the programmes, that includes photography and videography.
  • Develop topics alongside the curators for the permanent collection and changing exhibitions.
  • Ideate topics with relation to programmes and oversee the development of projects.
  • Report regularly on programme and projects, provide postevent report as well as organise regular debrief.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in the field of the arts as an arts administration, with proven track record in creating content to curate or programme for the general public.
  • Degree in art or production or equivalent artsrelated field, with a good knowledge of art.
  • A team player with excellent work ethic who is well organisedand who has managed several projects involving large teams simultaneously.
  • Selfdirected learner and problem solver who exhibits maturity and presence of mind in remaining productive under deadline pressures.
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Cultural sensitivity and empathy for diverse communities, with an awareness of inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Availability to work on evenings, weekends and public holidays.
