    About the Department

    Global Markets (GM) Business Finance team has the primary responsibility for providing strategic planning and performance management support to the regional GM business to enable strategic decision making and disciplined growth. In addition, the team provides advisory and support on finance related matters, including accounting, regulatory, capital requirements and funds transfer pricing.

    Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate shall act as finance business partner to Global Markets banking book, responsible for the accounting (including hedge accounting support) and delivering insights & analytics for the business. The candidate will also be involved in managing various business & finance initiatives and reviewing products under the Product Programme for the Global Markets business.

    The candidate must possess good accounting (especially in IFRS9), business, operational knowledge of Global Markets and be able to leverage the experience to provide an external benchmark view of finance best practices for the business.

    Key Responsibilities for the role will include:

    Financial and Performance Management of Global Markets Banking Book

  • Provide timely financial performance insights and in-depth scenario analysis.
  • Partner with business in various performance management activities, including strategic plan, annual budget and monthly forecast.
  • Partner with business to identify opportunities, business levers and initiatives to deliver financial targets and growth opportunities.
  • Drive best practices in financial analytics and reporting across the region.
  • Support enterprise-wide, business-specific as well as finance-related initiatives.
  • Hedge Accounting and Other Product Support

  • Support hedge accounting process for Global Market banking book.
  • Provide technical and operational expertise in hedge accounting related matters.
  • Work with stakeholders to drive various hedge accounting initiatives across the region, including new designations and system implementations.
  • Support financial controllership and advisory on banking book products.
  • Participate in monthly products review or new product initiative under the Product Programme for the Global Markets business.
  • Job Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in banking industry, preferably in the financial control or product control area, or similar project experience ideally preferred.
  • Degree qualified in Accounting & Finance or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, particularly in IFRS9.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Able to communicate well and collaborate with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint user.
  • Programming knowledge, e.g. Python/SQL/DAX/VBA would be an added advantage.
