In this role, you're expected to:

  • Lead in setting the strategic direction and driving tactical execution of engagement on public policy issues relevant to Asia-Pacific

This includes:

  • Identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, and regularly communicating issues and implications;
  • Building internal consensus on positions regarding policy changes; and
  • Developing and managing the execution of a strategy to address identified issues.
  • Facilitating engagement with key stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region
  • Coordinate on policy advocacy with senior management, business and corporate areas at the local, regional and global level, the head of Global Government Affairs Asia-Pacific, colleagues in Washington DC, EMEA and LATAM and other areas in Citi such as communications, branding and marketing.
  • Be a valueadded resource to senior management, business and corporate leaders, country heads and clients to provide insight and guidance on relevant political, legislative, and regulatory developments and risks and opportunities in Asia-Pacific.
  • Create and execute strategic stakeholder engagement and meeting plans that build and strengthen relationships between Citi's senior management, business and corporate leaders, country heads, external clients and senior Asia-Pacific and United States government officials, across key agencies including financial services, trade, foreign affairs, commerce, telecommunications and energy.
  • Build and strengthen productive relationships with officials and external groups setting and influencing public policy, including senior officials of government agencies, key trade associations, peer institutions, government organizations and Embassies.
  • Represent Citi in public fora, client meetings and in meetings with government officials when appropriate and provide briefings to Citi representatives in support of their meetings.
  • Provide advice on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations, including by assisting business to manage political risk and pursue opportunities.
  • Assist the Global Government Affairs Asia-Pacific Head manage industry association memberships, outside consultants and regional projects.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Solid years of experience in government relations either from government, a major corporation, trade association or other business organization, and/or a private law, government or public affairs firm that has experience working on Asia-Pacific issues.
  • Prefer experience with United States and Asia-Pacific government officials and business leaders at senior levels.
  • Experience working on financial services issues a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills to influence and build trust with a wide range of audiences both externally and internally.
  • Strong research, drafting and presentation skills.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to manage a set of deadlines and deliverables with limited supervision and take ownership of issues in a constantly changing corporate environment while also being able to work well as part of a team.
