The Electronic Systems Research Team are responsible for developing many of the key technologies that enable Dyson's innovative new products.

The team use technology to solve problems that others ignore.


Our Singapore team of creative engineers is growing, and we would like to hear from you if you are interested in joining us to develop cutting edge technology demonstrations and proof of concept product prototypes.

The team cover a diverse range of research topics, including sensor technology, power electronics, embedded systems, and embedded software.

We work closely with internal Dyson teams, external research institutions and suppliers to consider all aspects of complex products including thermal design, optics, electromagnetics, aero-acoustics, mechanical design, microbiology, machine learning, and compliance.


We are looking for inquisitive engineers with all levels of experience to develop the electronic systems for the next generation of Dyson products.

About the role:


  • Supporting a group of engineers working across multiple electronics research software projects. Acting as a technical resource to assess technology feasibility, review project progress and guide research activities.
  • Providing guidance with simulation and experimental work.
  • Helping to define team processes, tools, and lab setups.
  • Building internal and external business relationships to initiate collaborative research projects and bring new technologies to life.
  • Developing new ideas and technologies into well understood and derisked product proposals.
  • Reviewing project progress and communicating across the cross functional engineering team and senior business stakeholders.
  • Reviewing relevant articles, papers and patents and meeting with suppliers to keep informed of emerging technologies.
  • Designing, building, and testing demonstration rigs to prove feasibility of new technologies and products.
  • Working with a creative and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks and lead improvements in the way we work.

About you:


  • Degree or equivalent experience in electronic engineering or comparable discipline.
  • More than six years working experience in a relevant industry or research environment.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
  • Experience in embedded controller part selection, peripheral performance criteria and device configuration.
  • Experience with software version control and release processes.
  • Able to work with software development tools for code development and debugging.
  • Use of Matlab or Python for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Electronics hardware design for digital and analogue designs is desirable.
  • Knowledge of control theory for power systems, sensors and actuators is desirable.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment. Use of lab equipment to set up experiments and to take precise measurements.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Deep technical expertise in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Able to provide technical direction and participate in crossteam technical reviews.
  • History of working on multiple projects concurrently whist ensuring technical direction is clear.
