Job Summary:

Perform Product engineering tasks for manufacturing of electromechanical products during product development phase, start of production ramp up and sustaining phase till end of life (EOL) of the Product

- to achieve organization's target manufacturing KPIs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / AUTHORIZATION LEVEL:

Sustaining Engineering Support

Perform failure analysis to trace the root cause of the failure, trouble shoot product issues and drive to implement permanent solutions to improve production yield and quality of the manufactured/shipped products.
Perform Design Analysis with TSA, DFX, DFMEA etc to identify design related root causes
BOM preparation/update, Create/update Engineering documentations including changes to 2D & 3D drawings required for the development and manufacturing of new version (SKU/FRU) of sustaining products
Plan, coordinate and lead to implement actions required to evaluate and qualify engineering changes to product or manufacturing processes prior to implementation in mass production, which includes proposal of Qualification/Validation plan and execution.
Plan and assist to execute Prototype builds or Engineering Evaluation builds to validate engineering changes at production line.
Product critical performance parameters monitoring with Cp/Cpk anlaysis
Study and improve product performance (cost and quality) through continuous design and process improvements
Jigs/fixture design and validation for changes/improvements

NPI Support (at Pilot Phase):

Review of Product Design Intent and Design Verification documents which includes Product /Assembly Specifications, Critical Parameters at Assembly and Part level, 3D /2D drawings, Tolerance Stack Up analysis, DFM, DFMEA, FEA etc
Review of Design Validation /Qualification done to ensure product meets the specification.
Review of Process Capability to ensure designed Manufacturing Assembly & Test Processes are capable of achieving Yield targets.
Review of Open Product Issues, containment actions and Plan of action to resolve them permanently
Participation in PFMEA reviews and feedback on any potential failure modes for improvement in the assembly process or design itself

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, with 58 years of experience in New Product Industrialization activities of electro mechanical products, by coordinating with R&D Design Team, Customer and Manufacturing team
Familiar with 2D and 3D drawings of assembly and parts
Proven ability in Jig and fixture development and its validation
Experience in failure analysis, by use of Quality tools
Experience in design analysis tools TSA, DFX, DFMEA, FEA, DOE
Efficient in oral and written communication, and preparation of presentation slides/material

JOB-RELATED SKILLS:

Familiar with Design Tools (3D/2D CAD and GD&T)
Familiar Quality tools and techniques (Control Charts, Pareto Charts, cause and effect etc)
Well versed with standard design processes documentations
Independently able to perform TSA, DFX, DFMEA, DOE, FEA
Familiar with BOM structuring, Engineering Change Process Management, Yield reporting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Report preparation etc.
Familiar with Poka Yoke assessment and implementations
