    Job Summary

    The incumbent will be working closely with researchers and committees, both internal and external, to develop, facilitate and manage collaborative projects. The key roles include analysing data, preparing project protocols and manuscript preparation for submission to peer- reviewed journals

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC (80%)
    • Work closely with principal investigators, collaborators, and other research support staff to develop research projects and grant proposals
    • Take a leading role in the further development of the assigned research programme and in seeking and pursuing appropriate external or internal funding
    • Identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing research funding
    • Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals by conducting literature review, data analysis, and drafting of manuscripts
    • Prepare research grant applications under the direction of researchers, including performing necessary literature review, advising on study design, and coordinating inputs from research collaborators
    • Liaise with collaborators to bridge clinical and scientific information in order to integrate both into new and ongoing projects
    • Present study results at local and international scientific conferences
    • Contribute to knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities
    • Act as research team leader where needed
    • Coach and support colleagues in developing their research techniques
    • Plan coordinate and implement research programmes including:
    • Managing the use of research resources and ensuring effective use is made of them.
    • Managing research budgets

    GENERAL (20%)
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
    • Participate in Hospital / Institutes' quality improvement activities
    • Support the planning and organisation of department activities such as Clinical Audit Day, Quality Day, NHGEI International Ophthalmology Conference etc.
    • Coverage of duties for fellow team members – Research Assistants / Fellows when they are on leave

    Job Requirements

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
    • Relevant PhD or Masters (minimum requirement) degree in Life Sciences, Public Health or equivalent
    • Good knowledge in Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics would be preferred
    • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in academic or clinical research projects
    • Experienced in grant administration and grant writing
    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
    • Astute critical thinking skills and ability to learn quickly
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Proficient in at least one statistical software package (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R)
    • Track record of high-quality publications and/or innovation outputs
    • Good written and oral communication skills
