Job description
Our client is seeking a driven and results-oriented IT Technician to provide comprehensive technical support to end users, maintain and monitor IT systems and infrastructure, and ensure optimal system performance in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to end users across a wide range of IT-related issues.
- Oversee and monitor system and network performance, including network and data security, software licensing, applications, databases, servers, backups, switches, printers, and voice/data networks.
- Manage procurement, installation, maintenance, and auditing of computer systems and software.
- Maintain accurate asset tracking and inventory records.
- Respond to system alerts and monitoring notifications, delivering first-level troubleshooting and technical assistance.
- Handle support requests, document incidents and resolutions, and keep the self-service portal updated.
- Maintain proper system logs and ensure documentation is current.
- Support installation and upgrade activities for corporate data center equipment, including servers, communication hardware, and reliability systems.
- Conduct business-related research and prepare detailed reports as required.
- Perform operational tasks related to the support, troubleshooting, and enhancement of voice, data, and video conferencing systems.
- Develop familiarity with the organizations voice and video communication platforms.
- Gain understanding of how technology enables various business functions and processes.
- Carry out additional ad-hoc assignments and special projects, which may involve travel.
Requirements:
- Diploma from a recognised Polytechnic or a Bachelors degree from an accredited University in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field; alternatively, at least 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- A+, Network+, MCTS, CCENT, or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.
- MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, CCNA, or CCNE certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Physically able to lift PCs and other IT equipment weighing up to 35kg.
- Capable of sitting, standing, or kneeling for prolonged periods.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with users of varying technical proficiency levels.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required by operational needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
