Job Overview

Commercial Excellence ("CE") is recognized as key driver for profitable growth in AFAP and is a key focus area for AFAP.

The Commercial Finance manager plays a critical role in the CE Team co-ordinating and driving the understanding of commercial knowledge (Margins, Costings, benchmark prices, value proposition quantification, RFP/E-tender strategies, Raw Material pass thru) by Customer, Segment, Product, Platform, Synergy pillar, etc.

The role also assists in the development and tracking of improvement initiative related to the above areas.

  • Key to success in this role, will be to act as a business partner to the Sales and Marketing function assisting the delivery of business objectives. This role provides high quality, insightful and timely analysis and thinking to support commercial deals, growth initiatives and margin optimization.

Principal Accountabilities

Pricing and Costing

  • Provide commercial insights and highquality decision support in regard to large scale pricing submissions (RFP's). This includes coaching the Sellers to provide a deeper understanding of profitability and value by item / Market / Segment / Structure / platform

  • Customer Lead initiatives lead the understanding of the commercial aspects (Cost / Price / Value) for business opportunities

  • Value Engineering drive the commercial teams to develop value engineered products to ensure AFAP's market competitiveness
  • Track progress of global deals. Provide input on renewal options and strategies

  • Current State pricing by structure / segment / market comparative analysis

  • Market Knowledge Build
  • Tracking of submissions and feedback. In database format.
  • Support negotiations and assist in the development of quantified value selling arguments for the accounts.
  • Provide leadership to Sales & Marketing team to fully understand customer profitability, V+ Opportunities and explanation of Profitability information.

Contract Management

  • Contract Status
  • Contracted / Uncontracted vs desired state
  • Contract quality vs Gold standard and plans to improve


  • Customer supplied contracts

  • Guide Amcor's analysis and position development

Leakage Reduction

  • Develop, implement, manage best practice raw material pass thru standards to ensure timely recoveries of all cost escalations.
  • Review PMDB's with the BU's and Commercial Directors for selected accounts, segments, products and plants. Develop actions to improve profitability.

Management and Reporting

  • Manage tracking and appropriate financial treatment of commercial terms at both the BG and BU level, including signon, rebate, commercial "fund" execution and monthly reporting
  • Monthly commercial profit bridge reporting at BG and BU level
  • Monthly tracking of raw material exposure and recovery
  • Preparations of monthly management reports and Quarterly business review commercial information
  • Work with the SFE Team to develop, distribute, manage SFDC reporting that helps drive action. i.e. SFDC PBI reporting
  • Coordinate BG Sales budgets and strategic plans
  • Continuous improvements of reporting and systems supporting Sales & Marketing activities.

Resourcing / Talent

  • Provide coaching and guidance to commercial teams and analysts in the Business Units to achieve best practice commercial outcomes
