    Roles & Responsibilities

    As a Technical Superintendent, you will be a crucial member responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of designated vessels. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the vessels under your jurisdiction adhere to classification rules, remain in optimal operational condition, and meet all regulatory standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Vessel Maintenance and Operation:Ensure vessels are maintained in coordination with crew members to ensure readiness for operation.
      Address any defects or deficiencies promptly to prevent downtime.
    • Inspection Coordination:Schedule and coordinate Flag/Class and related vessel inspections.
      Report any potential hazards or risks arising from contingencies or vessel failures to the Assistant Technical Manager.
      Arrange technical support from specialized engineers when necessary, in consultation with the Assistant Technical Manager.
    • Budget Management:Develop and manage the vessel budget.
      Promptly report any unexpected expenses and control efficient utilization of machinery hours where redundancy is available.
    • Performance Evaluation and Reporting:Evaluate machinery performance and PMS forms.
      Report necessary actions, non-conformities, and recommendations to the Assistant Technical Manager.
      Analyze lube oil/bunker data and report any non-conformities and recommendations to the vessel.
    • Vessel Downtime Management:Efficiently manage vessel downtime to restore it to operational status.
      Monitor and take appropriate actions to improve the performance of designated vessels.
    • Ship Visits and Meetings:Conduct at least two ship visits per week or more as necessary to manage machinery space housekeeping effectively.
      Assess the chief engineer at intervals no more than 6 months or more frequently as needed.
      Participate in shipboard meetings with the port captain at intervals no more than 12 months or more frequently as needed.
    • Incident Management and Collaboration:Assist in incident investigations and collaborate with the port captain to complete the investigation report.
      Address and follow up on any ship-related requirements related to third-party claims.
    • Audit and Inspection Participation:Jointly attend SMC and MLC audits and SIRE inspections with the port captain.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
    • Relevant experience in technical management of vessels.
    • Knowledge of classification rules and regulatory standards.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
