We are currently based at Metropolis, Buona Vista, Singapore. This is a permanent role. _


Overall Purpose:


  • Responsible for assessment of legal issues and strategies to manage identified risk within proposals, subcontracts and contracts, compliance, and overall commercial operations of MOPS.
  • Providing expert and strategic legal advice to management.

Responsibilities:


  • Provides timely and sound legal support to the department in the review and assessment of legal, contractual, compliance and regulatory risks identified within proposals, subcontracts and contracts and overall commercial operations of MOPS.
  • Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action.
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas.
  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates a wide range of contracts, including but not limited to main contracts, subcontracts, consortiums, joint ventures, terms and conditions to ensure conformance with applicable laws, and identify deviations.
  • Acts as the liaison with the Global General Counsel and obtains his input as necessary, with respect to MOPS overall legal function, including but not limited to reporting requirements, MOPS standard pro forma terms and conditions, etc.
  • Deal with external parties (regulators, external counsel, clients).
  • Works with General Counsels throughout the MODEC organization as appropriate to ensure a global consistency in function.
  • Judges the merits of litigation and/or arbitration matters filed against or on behalf of MOPS, works with the appropriate external counsel, the President and CEO and other Senior Executives/Management, including the Global General Counsel.
  • Base decisionmaking process on ethics and integrity and create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders.
  • Review, amend, update and develop legal templates, precedents, pro forma documents, etc. as used by department. Draft agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights.

Requirements/Qualification:


  • Degree in Law with a minimum of 15 years legal experience in general counselling experience in business environment.
