    Description

    Overview

    The Global Research Trainee Programme is an 18-month programme aimed at coaching outstanding graduates to become astute analysts/strategists in the Research Department.

    Through rotations across the different business units within the department and in various offices around the globe, the successful candidate will undergo an immersive learning journey spanning varied segments of the dry bulk shipping and commodities markets. Under close guidance by our senior analysts, the successful candidate will face steep learning curves and challenging assignments, and will be trained and equipped to excel and contribute positively to the company's success as a market research professional.

    Upon completion of the program, the candidate will have gained a holistic view of the dry bulk market as well as a deep understanding of the intricate dynamics of the different vessel sizes and commodities. The candidate will then start his/her career with the Research Department as a Freight or Commodity Analyst.

    Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Business or related field, and be in your final year of study
  • Outstanding academic achievements.
  • Previous internship experience in research roles in dry bulk shipping/commodities or other commercial settings will be an added advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills will be an added advantage.
  • Track record of leadership roles in extracurricular activities or organisations will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in English (writing and speaking).
  • Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrates strong problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Inquisitive and investigative nature, with the aptitude to grasp new concepts fast.
  • Ability to connect the dots, especially in matters relating to economics, international trade, politics and the natural environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the right level of confidence to communicate and propose ideas to senior Research colleagues or supervisors.
  • Highly motivated team player with a positive attitude and mindset in working towards common goals.
  • High level of initiative and independence.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets.
