About the role

  • Daily measurement, monitoring and reporting of profit & loss and market risk exposure, with relevant understanding of the risk drivers, attribution analysis and monitoring of limits afor timely escalation.
  • Working in coordination with central market risk team who produce var and stress test numbers.
  • Handle the escalation of large pnl moves, var moves and var limit requests to Head of Risk.
  • Working with central risk team on methodology issues, central risk reporting issues etc.
  • Active engagement of front office around trading strategy, trading positions, key risk and value drivers and marktomarket methodology.
  • Working with analysis and change manager on alignment on cross team methodology, reporting and standardization.
  • Support the development of the market risk management framework, which includes establishing governance requirements, reviewing, implementing and enforcing risk policies, procedures, tools and methodologies.
  • Proficient use of daily Trading P&L/Risk report to produce quality analysis of Trading Performance based on key analytics.
Working with analysis and change manager on alignment on cross team methodology, reporting and standardization.

  • Support management decision making through active participation in review of new business scheme and key offtake contracts.
  • Own the assessment of risk/ reward from a market risk perspective. Support credit risk exposure calculations where needed.
  • Operate the market risk framework by being on top of the risks that the business is taking and using stress testing, and an understanding of the markets, and the business to preempt potential risk events.
  • Support controller team by providing key financial data and trading P&L analysis that is essential for financial reporting
  • Constant focus on operating efficiently and improving data management systems and processes while maintaining a strong control environment.
  • Use data analytics and engineering where practical to uplift analysis in the team.
  • Develop self and team members, lead a highly motivated and engaged team.

What you will need for the role

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, demonstrating in-depth experience and expertise in middle office and risk processes.
  • Proven experience and success in being an integral part of or leading in a middle office and risk environment, within a functioning commodities trading business with physical and derivatives trading.
  • Strong background in product control or risk management in a commodities trading business with physical and derivatives trading, with firm grasp of value drivers, trading contribution and associated risks.
  • Leadership and influencing skills.
  • Business partnering skills
  • Proven communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate and manage stakeholder relationships within a large complex organisation
