Job Purpose Statement

Responsible for the collection, handling and processing of blood specimens from adult, pediatrics and/ or infant patients as ordered by the Clinicians; assist in projects, operations and client service duties in the operations department.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the timely and accurate collection of blood specimens from patients as requested by the clinicians using any of the appropriate techniques listed below:
• Venipuncture
• Capillary collection – fingerstick or heelstick
• Blood culture specimen collection
• Ensure timely and accurate collection of breath sample for the Urea Breath Test.
• Acquire knowledge and skills on Laboratory Information System and required IT systems.
• Manage and ensure consumables (specimen tubes, syringes, labels, etc.) are sufficient and stocked at Par Level.
• Rotate duties between medical centers as determined by supervisor.
• Work with colleagues to achieve accuracy, service quality, quick Turn Around Time and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain tidiness of workplace.
• Assist in projects, operations and client service duties as and when needed.
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time by management.

Requirements

• Minimum GCE "N" Level, State Enrolled Nurse, equivalent or higher nursing qualifications, or Medical Technology degree / diploma with Phlebotomist certificate.
• 3 years' experience in Phlebotomy via vaccutainer or syringe and needle venepuncture.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Patient/customer service orientated.
