Roles & ResponsibilitiesRole Description
The trainee reports to the Strategy Head and will be overseeing various aspects of the publishing process to ensure the successful creation, marketing, and distribution of books or other publications.
Specific Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning:
Work with Strategy Head to develop and implement strategic plans for the publishing department to meet overall business objectives. Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and challenges.
• Market Analysis & Acquisitions
Conduct market research to identify target audiences and trends. Develop strategies to position the company's publications effectively in the marketplace.
Work with Strategy head to Identify potential projects and acquisitions that align with the company's publishing goals. Evaluate manuscript proposals and make decisions on which projects to pursue.
• Contract Negotiation
Negotiate contracts with authors, agents, and other publishing partners. Ensure that contractual terms are favourable and align with the company's business objectives.
• Content Development:
Collaborate with the authors in shaping the Christian (blible-thmed) content of the final publication to reach the audience.
Functioning in the role of the editor, including manuscript evaluation, developmental and copy editing, fact checking, proofreading, ensuring adherence to style guides etc.
Create visually engaging layouts for print and digital publications. Design graphics, illustrations, and other visual elements to complement and enhance the content.
• Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop and manage project budgets for the publishing department, ensuring that financial goals are met. Monitor expenses, revenue, and profitability of individual projects and the publishing program as a whole.
• Collaboration with Other Departments:
Work closely with other teammates handling marketing, sales, and logistics to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to publishing projects. Facilitate communication and collaboration across different teams.
• Technology and Innovation:
Stay informed about technological advancements and industry trends affecting publishing. Explore and implement innovative approaches to content delivery, including digital publishing initiatives.
• Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with authors, literary agents, and other key stakeholders in the publishing ecosystem.

Qualifications/Requirements
