The International Credit Risk Team is seeking a Vice President to lead the team in our Asia Region covering Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Within the broader credit risk organization, this team is responsible for the end-to-end customer credit life cycle and supports the success of the International Card Services business, through innovative solutions that help enable profitable growth while maintaining robust credit performance.

Leading a large, high performing team across multiple markets, this role will report into the Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for Asia of the International Credit Risk organization and work on an exciting growth area for American Express with excellent visibility to Senior Leadership.

This team will partner with the larger Credit and Fraud Risk organization, product management, finance, marketing, acquisitions, operations, legal, compliance and technology.


Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Be responsible for new accounts decisions from a risk perspective
  • this includes analytics, strategy, and capabilities, across new accounts and existing customers.
  • Monitor and analyze credit trends and perform analyses to inform risk management and business strategies.
  • Work with and influence Product, Marketing, and Finance teams within the International Card Services organization and broader credit and fraud risk organization to design and implement critical initiatives that enable prudent and profitable growth while controlling for throughthecycle volatility.
  • Serve as a member of the International Credit Risk leadership team and actively participate in identifying new business partners, conducting due diligence activities, assessing new deals, and collecting investment opportunities.
  • Ensure control, compliance, and operational risk mitigation in all processes and design for a streamlined user experience across customer touch points.
  • Drive deepdive analytics and partner with the Decision Science team to enhance economic logic that supports core risk management decisions.
  • Lead, engage, and inspire a team of high performing risk management professionals.
  • Actively participate and lead International Credit Risk governance committees as required and lead regulatory updates.


This position requires a hands-on, roll-up-their-sleeves type of leader who can delve deep into the operational details of the company.

Above all, this person must have excellent interpersonal capabilities, detail oriented with the ability to bring an innovative perspective to the strategic and operating requirements of the role.

This individual must be a team player willing to lead by example and set the tone for the group.

This person must be able to thrive in a dynamic environment while influencing colleagues from partner organizations, often with conflicting priorities.
