  • Develop long-term product vision and roadmap with foundation stakeholders and the open source community, articulating a clear and coherent direction for the product.
  • Prioritise features and fixes with the Software Maintainer and community developers to grow the codebase in the most effective manner.
  • Write and refine user stories and prune the technical backlog, so issues are properly scoped for the community and development takes a clear and logical path forward.
  • Engage with the broader technical community to determine novel capabilities and algorithms to develop in order to keep the product at the leading edge.
  • Drive, moderate, and create buzz around technical discussions across various forums, including GitHub and Discord, to keep the community developers engaged.
  • Serve as the key technical community liaison, fostering relationships with developers and researchers who are keen to contribute and work with the Foundation.
  • Plan, design, and oversee developer events such as workshops, training, hackathons, together with the community manager and external partners and vendors.
  • Requirements

  • Have at least 7 years of demonstrable experience as a technical product manager or leading a product function within a large technology oriented organisation.
  • Exceptional people and communication skills, with an inate ability to motivate, influence, and build genuine relationships.
  • Have a sound technical foundation and be able to confidently apply AI and software engineering concepts to design a product intended for technical users. A technology background (e.g. in Information Systems or Computer Science) would be advantageous.
  • Able to write effective and well-scoped user stories and refine them with stakeholders and volunteers, while building consensus around the product direction.
  • Familiar with community engagement approaches and tools, such as use of Discord, discussion boards, social media, and events to keep partners and members engaged.
