    Roles & Responsibilities

    The Director, Development & Engagement (DDE), is a dynamic, creative, and driven individual in a leadership position, with a direct reporting relationship to the Executive Director.

    The DDE will manage and enhance existing diversified fundraising and community engagement plans to strengthen the organization's overall outreach, fundraising capacity and sustainability.

    The DDE will be expected to provide strategic leadership to two teams:

    • Fundraising team to execute AWARE's fundraising plan
    • S.P.A.C.E. team which educates and empowers the community to create a gender-equal future through projects, workshops and events;

    As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the DDE will develop and execute AWARE's annual and long-term strategic plans in the above areas.

    Position: Director, Development and Engagement, AWARE

    Salary range: SGD$8,000 – 9,100

    Term: Full-time employment contract

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising

    • Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans, with customised strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing donors;
    • Build and foster partnerships and networks to cultivate donors, members and advocates, positioning AWARE as a unique and powerful agent for positive change in Singapore;
    • Leverage on personal and AWARE's connections to engage progressive companies and their employees to support AWARE's work;
    • Oversee fundraising events, such as the annual AWARE Ball, donor cultivation and recognition events; and
    • Lead and develop the Fundraising team comprising staff, interns and volunteers to achieve the above.

    S.P.A.C.E.

    • Create and implement strategies for engaging with and building the capacity of various communities to construct a fairer, more compassionate and gender-equal future;
    • Direct the formulation and successful implementation of community engagement programmes to inspire, empower and connect people with real and sustainable impact;
    • Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with community leaders and senior government representatives to ensure successful engagements;
    • Closely collaborate with and advise other AWARE departments on deepening the relationship of their constituents with AWARE;
    • Actively represent AWARE to members, donors, volunteers, AWARE board alumni, other social service organisations, government agencies and the community at large; and
    • Lead and develop the SPACE team comprising staff, interns and volunteers to achieve the above.

    Senior Leadership

    The Senior Leadership team is collectively responsible for the following, in accordance with AWARE's vision, mission and values:

    • Anticipating future needs and opportunities to articulate AWARE's strategic direction;
    • Achieving annual and longer-term strategic plans;
    • Fostering a positive, high performance work culture; and
    • Ensuring the ongoing sustainability of the organisation.

    Candidate Profile - Qualifications and Critical Competencies

    • Singapore Citizen with university degree and minimum 12 years' total professional experience, including at least 5 years leading and managing teams and at least 8 years of relevant experience in fundraising/business development/community engagement, preferably in the Singapore context.
    • Strong track record with partners, foundations and individual donors in the non-profit sector, or successful business development or revenue generation experience in the commercial sector.
    • Superior interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to collaborate and build alliances; able to engage effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups of donors, volunteers, members and other constituents across different sectors, e.g., government agencies, non-profits and corporates.
    • Management of professional teams in a way that is consistent with AWARE's mission, vision and values (diversity, choice, gender rights, respect for others); able to attract, engage, develop and retain the right staff in the right roles.
    • Technologically savvy, well-versed in information systems and data management; able to leverage innovative tools and technologies. Ideally experienced in digital marketing.
    • Collaborative, energetic, self-motivated and personable with sound judgment, strong organisational and problem-solving skills and a positive, forward-thinking mindset.
    • Shares AWARE's feminist perspective and understands what drives people to work and volunteer in the non-profit sector.
