    Roles & Responsibilities

    My client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Executive/Paralegal to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures, contracts, and regulations pertinent to the shipping industry. They will play a crucial role in supporting their legal operations, assisting with contract management, regulatory compliance, commercial matters and litigation matters.

    Office Location: West Region

    Job Duties

    1. Assist in the preparation, review, and management of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
    2. Conduct legal research on various shipping-related or commercial matters, including maritime law, international trade regulations, transportation law including Engineering, Procurement and Construction law.
    3. Recording minutes of meetings.
    4. Collaborate with external lawyers and other team members to gather necessary information and documentation for legal proceedings and transactions.
    5. Maintain, organize and update legal files, databases, and records, ensuring easy accessibility and compliance with retention policies.
    6. Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the shipping industry, providing updates and recommendations to the legal team as needed.
    7. Assist in the resolution of legal disputes, including coordinating with external counsel, drafting correspondence, and preparing evidence.
    8. Support the legal team in administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating document production/execution.
    9. Render legal support to various business units and subsidiaries in other jurisdictions.
    10. Provide general assistance and support to other departments on legal matters as required.
    11. Assist legal team to create and enhance corporate policies including data protection.
    12. Assist legal team to enhance corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts.
    13. Assist legal team to create, update and digitalize legal processes.
    14. Any other assistance the legal team may require.

    Requirements

    1. Bachelor's degree in law (LLB) or diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
    2. Previous experience (min 3 years) working as a legal executive/paralegal in a law firm, corporate legal department, or shipping-related industry.
    3. Strong understanding of legal principles and procedures, with specific knowledge of maritime law, EPC contracts and shipping regulations preferred.
    4. Proficiency in legal research methods and tools, including LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar platforms.
