The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Ministry of Education (Singapore), Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore.

Hosted by
NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities and microbiomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Participation in development and testing of a probe for Raman spectroscopy of bacteria on human skin
Development and testing of strategies for selective surface enhancement of Raman scattering from bacteria on human skin.
Collecting and processing Raman spectra of bacteria in model samples.
Participating in development of AI tools for identifying different bacterial species.

Job Requirements:

At least Master's degree in engineering or physics or related disciplines
Experience with Raman spectroscopy, spectra analysis and SERS
Experience with building of spectroscopy instruments and with deep learning in data analysis are advantageous
