  • Advise on a wide range of legal and commercial matters in the areas of cloud computing, technology licensing, and open source software, and export control compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex software license agreements, professional services agreements, and other general commercial agreements.
  • Collaborate with external counsel and other Tencent attorneys based around the world, including in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, EU, and the US, to provide compliance and regulatory analysis and advice for international business initiatives.
  • Identify potential legal issues and pitfalls and devise creative solutions for business teams to efficiently mitigate compliance risks.
  • Develop and continuously identify areas of improvement in our internal policies, case and knowledge management, trainings, and processes to ensure operational efficiency and implement practices for alignment with international regulatory standards.
  • Develop online training materials and conduct training sessions on compliance and regulatory topics for business stakeholders.
  • Requirements:

  • You have five or more years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department, in the areas of technology, online platforms, software developers or similar clients.
  • You have strong academic credentials and are a member of a relevant Bar or you possess other recognized professional qualifications or equivalent membership. Degree in Computer science or similar subject is additionally preferred.
  • You have sound business judgement and the ability to deliver practical, commercially friendly and comprehensive advice.
  • You are detail oriented, and have extensive experience with IP transactions, including cloud computing services, technology service and licensing issues.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can establish strong working relationships with business stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment and can work independently to manage day-to-day compliance work and handle the end-to-end transaction process from initial contract review through to negotiations and execution.
  • You have a good command of Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and oral) as working language to cooperate with international stakeholders and stakeholders who are based in HQ.
