    Job Description

    The Risk Coverage department is part of the CRO area. The Risk Coverage team is in charge of the development and effective operation of risk management mechanisms relating to SCOR's risks and operations. This includes the following main activities:
    • Definition and development of SCOR's Risk Management frameworks (eg Risk Appetite, Monitoring of risk exposure, ALM, liquidity frameworks, Internal Control System...)
    • Effective operation of Risk Management activities, ensuring a consistent approach across all SCOR entities in scope
    • Risk analyses and reporting to Executive Management and the Board levels
    • Management of the Group Referral process.
    Each activity is carried out in close liaison with:
    • the other departments of the CRO area (Central Pricing, Risk Capital, Risk Modelling, Group Actuarial and Prudential Affairs)
    • SCOR Life & Health and SCOR P&C
    • CFO, COO and CSO areas.
    Responsibilities

    Within the Coverage team, the Head of APAC Risk Management leads risk management activities for Underwriting (Life and P&C), Financial and Operational risks in coordination with the local stakeholders. This includes the following activities:

    CRO responsibility for the APAC region
    • Transpose and maintain SCOR's Risk Management frameworks, including the Risk Appetite framework
    • Contribute to the deployment, maintenance and assessment of the Internal Control System
    • Lead the production of local ORSAs and Risk Dashboards
    • Organize production of deliverables for local governance bodies
    • Monitor regulatory evolutions in the region and assess implications in terms of Risk Framework and Solvency
    • Ensure that local regulatory requirements are met in conjunction with local CROs where relevant,
    • Support APAC management in all risk matters.
    Regional risk representative
    • Identify and monitor local risks and trends, including market development, claim trends, legal and regulatory evolutions
    • Promptly report risks and trends, discuss and address with the broader Risk Coverage team
    • Participate or lead analyses of trends, risks or exposure relevant to APAC, for local entities or for the Group executive committee and Board
    • Monitor external risks (e.g. economic risks) and potential impacts (e.g. on solvency reporting) and communication to regulators/ supervisory authorities on risk matters.
    Team, community and stakeholder management
    • Manage the local APAC risk team
    • Organize and manage a community of risk stakeholders including legal entity CROs
    • Promote and maintain risk culture in close proximity with the other local departments
    • Contribute to relevant business processes in order to support adequate business decisions in view of risks, e.g. by conducting risk roundtables/workgroups, specific analyses etc
    The responsibilities of this position can evolve according to SCOR's requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required experience & competencies
    • University degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a comparable field. Qualified actuary or equivalent quantitative background.
    • At least 15 years practical experience in (re)insurance with a focus in Life and Health ideally in the APAC region.
    Hard skills
    • Understanding of insurance or reinsurance products and markets in APAC across Property and Casualty, Life and Health
    • Ability to understand underlying risk within insurance products and reinsurance structures, as well as financial and operational risks. Ability to develop mitigation strategies
    • Solid experience in risk analyses
    • Good understanding of the principles of risk and capital.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to challenge and build consensus
    • Ability to forge constructive relations across the various SCOR entities
