Position:
Mainframe Services z/OS System Engineer

Platform services Supported System & sub-system in the MF: zOS, CICS, DB2, MQ, Host Network (TCP/IP), Mainframe Storage

Job Description:

Installation, Customization, and administration of the z Operating system & each subsystem on Mainframe
Learn and understand critical proprietary business systems built /running in the Mainframe
Maintain all system & subsystem environments in compliance with the security guidelines
Perform and/or lead z Operating system, subsystem and tools upgrades and patching on all mainframe lpars.
Assist with testing, implementation, and installation of each subsystem and associated software.
Diagnose and resolve environment system abends and abnormal operating problems using system logs, and other available logs and documents.
Build, define, modify, and understand system and each subsystem parameters, definitions and system Tables.
Develop/Maintain/Improve inhouse programs and utilities in COBOL, REXX and Assembler
Have an understanding and experience of IBM SMP/E environment and ability to use SMP/E to install software
Ability to deliver multiple concurrent agile projects/tasks on time and a focus on quality
Participate in scheduled and critical activities (ie, monthly IPL, Annual DR tests, Failover Exercise, Storage Autoswap, etc)
Performance tuning
Maintain system documentation
Support disaster recovery activities
Provide 24x7 oncall support on a rotation basis which at times require work outside of normal business hours to support critical tasks
Participate in Disaster Recovery Operations
Process requests for system storage modification
Assist in reviewing software requirements and establishing technical direction and business strategy for the department
Management, maintenance, and implementation of data storage solutions and storage migration
Ability to work on project teams, delivering on key project milestones, and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people
Manage Mainframe Operating System version upgrade, including customisation to HDB standard, for example, z/OS upgrade and customization
Manage Mainframe Middleware software version upgrade, including customisation to HDB standard, for example, DB2 upgrade, CICS update, COBOL upgrade, etc
Manage SYSPLEX environment
Able to define IODF for the IBM Mainframe based on the requirement
Diagnose, Analyse and perform problem determination till resolution
Supervise CPU hardware preventive maintenance
Know how to setup indirect cataloging for A and B packs of SYSTEM volumes
Know how to clone volume using DFSMS DFP utilities
Maintain the Mainframe Systems in compliance with security guidelines
