    The Role

    Senior Nurse Manager:
    Provide nursing leadership in the effective delivery of optimal clinical care. Provide opinion & ideas to nursing strategy and to lead the operational implementation of those strategies.

    Lead initiatives of Nursing in collaboration with the nursing team, other heads of departments, doctors, patients, families and external parties.

    Engage in systems level thinking and its application to a variety of situations and contexts.
    Provide clinical nursing leadership in the effective delivery of optimal clinical care. Coordinate teaching and counselling plans to meet the patient and family's complex needs. Engage in systems level thinking and its application to a variety of situations and contexts. Promote and implement evidence-based nursing practice and act as an expert resource for nurses and junior nurse clinicians.

    Provide opinion and ideas to nursing education and training initiatives, to enhance knowledge, critical thinking, skills & competence of nurses who provide care on the clinical units.

    Promote, in collaboration with Nurse Leaders/Managers and the Clinical Nurse Educators, the development of a good clinical learning environment for nurses.

    Participate in nursing initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices to maintain quality standard of nursing care and good patient outcome.
    Key accountabilities

    Senior Nurse Manager:

    Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, development and retention of nurses with the nursing teamConduct patient and staff rounds to promote and maintain healthy customer satisfaction levelsEvaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care and make appropriate changes in nursing care delivery.

    Ensure there is a robust Workplace Safety and Health culture within the teamFacilitate reviews on occurrence reports and ensure plans are implemented to prevent future occurrencesMonitor budget and expenditure to ensure efficient and effective use of consumablesEnsure competency measurement is implemented.

    Assess competency mix across organization and facilitate any allocation changes that may be requested by Nurse ManagersPromote system accessibility of clinical policies / procedureFoster and promote nurses' participation in quality related projectsNurture nurses' clinical competencies progression through mentoringPerform regular and on-going assessment of nurses' competencies to ensure achievement of targets set and /or expected competency levelsDevelop, implement and evaluate clinical-based education to meet the competency and learning needs of nursesFacilitate induction, supervise and support for all nurses by delivering an appropriate induction and Continuing Nursing Education programAssist the Nurse Managers and Clinical Nurse Educators with learning needs assessment; planning, implementation and evaluation of competency-based educational & training initiativesCollaborate with Nurse Managers / Clinicians / Nurse Educators on staff development, clinical-based in-service and continuing educationDesign curriculum, incorporating active and creative learning methods, evaluation and innovation in nursing educationQualifications & Experience

    Senior Nurse Manager:
    Diploma in Nursing or equivalent and recognised by the Singapore Nursing BoardPost Basic, Degree and Master in NursingRegistered with Singapore Nursing Board is preferredAt least 4 years continuous experience in management / leadership in healthcare settingExperience in Manpower planning, Quality and Risk ManagementDiploma in Nursing or equivalent and recognised by the Singapore Nursing BoardPost Basic, Degree and Master in NursingRegistered with Singapore Nursing Board is preferredAt least 4 years continuous experience in management / leadership in healthcare settingExperience in Quality and Risk ManagementDiploma in Nursing or equivalent and recognised by the Singapore Nursing BoardPost Basic, Degree and Master in NursingPossession of a teaching qualification is preferredRegistered with Singapore Nursing Board is preferredAt least 4 years continuous experience in management / leadership in healthcare settingExperience as a Preceptor / Clinical Nurse Educator
