What the role is

You will lead the Emergency Preparedness team in the Operations Planning Division in formulating and executing strategies and policies relating to maritime emergency and business continuity planning to mitigate risks, minimise impact during crisis and national emergencies and restore normal operations as quickly as possible - to safeguard the lives and livelihood of Singaporeans.

Other than formulating action plans to address maritime emergencies, you will also support WOG contingency planning workstreams such as Essential Supplies Resiliency Study.

As part of emergency planning, you will also design and direct activities and exercises to test and validate the effectiveness of the WoG plans.

[ What you will be working on]

You will be part of MPA's emergency response team for consequence management of marine incidents/ accidents.

You are also required to oversee both internal and external emergency preparedness planning requirements and management efforts to ensure the organisation's operational readiness and sectoral continuity.

In addition, you will also work closely with other government agencies (including regional authorities) as well as maritime companies to ensure holistic planning, complemented with a comprehensive training framework.

Your role will include both administrative and field work.

Besides working closely with national agencies and industry players to enhance Maritime Singapore's resilience; you will also be supporting SDD/Crisis Planning and Security to anticipate future scenarios (e.g. use of hazardous green fuels/energy) for early risks elimination and mitigation.


Key goal is to understand these risks and influence stakeholders to design away these risks upstream and build safeguards to keep residual risks low.

[What we are looking for]

  • At least 10 years of experience in developing emergency plans and exercise planning
  • Past experience in the uniformed services will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast paced environment
