About the team

PDPO(Privacy and Data Protection Office) is the organization to lead, supervise, and empower all TikTok's privacy work in an accountable and industry leading way.

This team is the expert in the landscape of privacy risks and passionate about consulting across the company on implementing the proper safeguards and technical mitigations to ensure that our users' privacy is honored across the TikTok's products and platforms.


As a Privacy White Hat Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing and enhancing the privacy and data protection measures within our organization.

Your primary focus will be on identifying potential privacy risks, evaluating the effectiveness of existing privacy controls, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement privacy best practices.

Leveraging your expertise in privacy regulations, data protection you will play a vital role in safeguarding the privacy of our users' information and ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy laws.


Key Responsibilities:


1) Privacy Risk Assessment:


  • Evaluate the privacy impact of new projects, features, or services and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.

2) Data Protection Compliance:


  • Stay uptodate with global privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, or other relevant data protection laws.
  • Ensure our organization's practices align with applicable privacy laws and standards.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to maintain and improve privacy policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with development and product teams to incorporate privacy best practices into the design and development of new products and features.
  • Advocate for "privacy by design" principles to embed privacy considerations throughout the product development lifecycle.

3) Incident Response and Data Breach Management:

  • Assist in privacy-related incident response and data breach management efforts.
  • Investigate privacy incidents, identify root causes, and recommend remediation actions to prevent future occurrences.

4) Privacy Audits and Assessments:


  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate privacy audits and assessments.
  • Address findings from audits and track the implementation of corrective actions.

5)Documentation and Reporting:


  • Maintain detailed records of privacy assessments, testing, and compliance activities.
  • Generate regular reports for management and stakeholders, providing insights on privacy risks and mitigation efforts.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications in privacy and data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in privacy assessments, data protection, and compliance.
  • Indepth knowledge of global privacy regulations and standards, including GDPR, CCPA, etc.
  • Familiarity with privacyenhancing technologies and data anonymization techniques.
  • Strong ethical hacking and security testing skills with a focus on privacy concerns.
  • Excellent understanding of data handling processes, data flows, and data lifecycle management.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Detailoriented, analytical mindset, with the ability to think critically and solve complex privacy challenges.
  • Strong commitment to ethics and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive data.
