Description

Norway and Singapore are long-time ocean partners, and the maritime and offshore industries are of key importance to a large number of Norwegian businesses in Singapore.

In the past several years, these sectors have been impacted by disruptive technologies. Important drivers behind this change have been decarbonisation, digital technology, data and autonomy/A1.

This development has accelerated as a consequence of the ongoing pandemic, leading to several new opportunities as well as the emergence of many new solutions providers.

Singapore and Norway are in the forefront of this development.

Singapore has one of the world's busiest harbours, as well as a large maritime and offshore cluster, including several world-leading yards.

It has been ranked as the leading maritime capitol in the world several years in a row by DNV/Menon. In the same ranking, Oslo tops the list on technology. Singapore is therefore both a natural market as well as an important technology partner for Norwegian companies. We are working closely with Singaporean and Norwegian stakeholders to realise these opportunities.

Similarly, the energy sector is in transition, leading to a diversification of the project portfolios at the large yards in Singapore.

Approximately 50% of projects at Sembcorp Marine and Keppel are presently within the LNG and offshore renewables segments. Hydrogen is an area that is also receiving increased attention.
