    Position Title: The Remote Sensing, GIS and Natural Resource Specialist

    Location: Singapore

    Position Overview

    The Remote Sensing, GIS and Natural Resource Specialist will work directly within the Company's central development team to implement core remote sensing and geospatial functionalities and to build the necessary models, automations, and monitoring systems that are required to determine the design and ultimate impact of the company's projects, primarily in terms of reducing deforestation and forest degradation, and restoring forests, peatlands, and other important natural ecosystems over time.

    Position Responsibilities

    This position will work directly under and closely with the Global Head of Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis, in collaboration with other Remote Sensing and GIS staff of the Company and those located in country offices, primarily on the following:

    . Developing the Company's in-house remote sensing and GIS capabilities, infrastructure, platforms, and other systems, which support and enable centralised and coordinated project origination, screening, development, and ongoing monitoring needs

    . Building automated systems for implementing core remote sensing and geospatial functions, including Standard Operating Procedures, Sharepoint Sites, and the basic infrastructure of the Company's databases, in support of creating a truly shared platform for all the Company's staff for intra/inter-country collaboration between projects

    . Leveraging advanced functionalities such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based computing to support the Company's remote sensing and GIS needs

    . Developing core RS/GIS components and products required by projects, including analysis and modeling of various geospatial and field datasets for feasibility assessment, project development, and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV)

    . Conducting training and capacity development of other Remote Sensing and GIS staff from all the other country offices in performing their core functions and

    . Participating in and conducting site visits and fieldwork.

    Eligibility Requirements

    . Bachelors or Masters degree, or equivalent demonstrable on-the-job training in GIS/Remote Sensing, focusing on forestry, land use and land cover change (land change), and conservation applications.

    . Experience in remote sensing of forest and land change dynamics, geospatial webapp (WebGIS) development, geospatial analysis and modeling, ground truthing, and an understanding of carbon as it applies to land change, REDD+, including peat and peatland dynamics.

    . Highly proficient in industry standard and open-source geospatial software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine), frontend and backend WebGIS frameworks and applications (e.g., Carto), geospatial servers and databases (e.g., GeoServer, PostGIS), and in programming and scripting languages (e.g., R, Python, JavaScript) required.

    . Experience in field-based inventories, survey design, and implementation.

    . Regional experience across Southeast Asia considered a distinct asset.
