    The School Dental Service (SDS) provides oral healthcare services to school-going children to ensure that they achieve good oral health and dental fitness. The comprehensive range of services includes oral health promotions, education talks, dental screenings and treatment.

    The School Dental Centre (SDC) provides oral healthcare services to students up to 18 years of age. Patients range from pre-schoolers, primary and secondary school children with complex treatment who are referred from Field Dental Clinics in schools, as well as those in junior colleges, the Institutes of Technical Education (ITEs), polytechnics and special needs schools.

    What You Can Expect

    As a Dental Surgery Assistant, you may be deployed either at SDC or SDS. Your role include:

  • Provide chair-side assisting to Dental Officers, Registrars/Senior Registrars and Specialists for various dental procedures in static and Mobile Dental Clinics (MDCs) or SDC.
  • Maintain and achieve high infection control protocols and quality and service standards.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidelines set up by MOH Licensing & Regulation.
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleanliness of the dental clinic, dental unit or operatory in SDC.
  • Manage scheduling of patients' appointments in electronic system
  • Attend to customers' needs and provide courteous service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain proper usage and inventory record of equipment and stock supplies.
  • Conduct annual inventory check of all equipment, ensure the proper use and maintenance of dental equipment, instruments and other fixed assets.
  • Liaise with contracted vendor regarding the delivery and supply of stocks.
  • Maintain proper house-keeping and high standard of cleanliness in static and MDCs and in SDC.
  • Ensure safe disposal of sharps and biohazardous wastes
  • Assist the Dental Officer in the management of MDCs, monitoring the coverage of schools assigned to ensure targets are met and to call students from class room to attend dental treatment.
  • Perform other administrative duties in static and MDCs.

    Join us if you are a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a Certificate in Dental Assisting or equivalent. You should also possess:

  • GCE 'O'/'N' Level qualification
  • Certificate in Dental Assisting or equivalent
  • Possess relevant work experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective social and communication skills
  • Ability to establish close rapport with children, parents and school staff
