RESPONSIBILITIES
NTUC Health is one of Singapore's largest community health and eldercare providers.

With a fast-growing presence, the organisation is recruiting passionate individuals who wish to serve the interest of a senior person.


The Nursing Aide is responsible for attending to clients' needs in their activities of daily living and performing basic care procedures according to established policies, procedures and guidelines.

The incumbent attends relevant nursing support care training to ensure that her/his knowledge and skills remain up-to-date to provide clients with quality client care.

1) Client Care

  • Attend to client's needs in their activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
  • Assist clients with mobility, positioning, and transferring from beds or chairs
  • Ensure client comfort and safety by regularly lifting and repositioning bedbound clients every two hours and conducting elimination rounds for nonambulant clients
  • Assist clients with a range of motion exercises and perform recreational and mentally stimulating activities
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and pain and reporting any abnormalities during services
  • Additional duties include accompanying clients for medical appointments, performing simple wound dressing and bandaging for dry wounds, feeling and assisting with oral and/or nasogastric tube feeding, provide assistance with medications and medication reminders if necessary
  • Provide immediate care to the client during a medical emergency or crisis under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Perform any simple nursing interventions or other higher care tasks as assigned by Assistant Nurse Manager
2) Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and complete client records and details of service rendered in the system
  • Ensure timely documentation after each home visit
3) Safety & Infection Control

  • Follow safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure the wellbeing of the clients such as exercising infection control precautions and hand hygiene to prevent the spread of infections
4) Client & Caregiver Education

  • Provide basic education to clients and families such as infection control practices and demonstrating proper techniques for ADLs
  • Work closely with the care team and families to fulfill client care needs
5) Light Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean and comfortable environment for the clients by performing light housekeeping tasks including but not limited to general cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing after meal preparation
  • Create a clean and safe environment for the clients in their homes by identifying and rectifying safety hazards for fall prevention

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1) Locally Trained:
GCE N Levels or attained training in either of the following courses:

  • WSQ Higher Certificate /Advanced Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care)
  • Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Approved Training Centre (ATC) Healthcare (Home Care) programme
  • Minimum 23 years of relevant work experience in healthcare/clinical setting

2) Foreign Trained:

  • Degree in Nursing in home country;
  • Practicing License (PRC) in home country is an added advantage
  • Minimum 23 years of relevant work experience in healthcare/clinical setting
