Description

Plan the whole process of the tunnelling works including site layout, TBM lifting plan, tunnelling equipment setup and etc.

Training of workforce; plan and manage production of the works and necessary resources; meetings with specialist sub-contractors on TBM maintenance, grouting works and other tunnelling issues.

Provide necessary guidance, direction and supports to both senior and junior staff so that they are able to accomplish their goals and jobs effectively; assign Senior Tunnel Engineer and Shift Engineer to liaise with subcontractors to resolve tunnelling problems.

Ensure all tunneling activities are properly planned and coordinated, including coordination with Interfacing Contractor as well as taking over and handing back of interface area used for tunnelling works.

Report to Tunnel Manager and communicate with the client and QP(S) to ensure the available information related to tunnelling works is clear and accurate.

Manage staff relationship; develop communication link between tunnel team and the Management; assign tasks to respective Shift Engineer

Lead tunnel team and provide them opportunities to improve their working skill and continuously improve their teamwork values.

Monitor materials and machinery / equipment costs in day-to-day operation; control wastage of materials and machinery / equipment; oversee tunnel segments and tunnelling materials stock levels at site for smooth tunnelling works.

Work Experience:

Minimum 6 years engineering experience after tertiary education in relevant field
At least 5 years experience in managing tunneling works of similar scale and complexity

Professional Qualification:

Possess good knowledge in tunnel construction
Possess good understanding of TBM operation and its impacts to the aboveground structures, buildings and services
Experience in managing tunnelling works and working in tunnels
Familiar with regulations and rules related to tunnel construction.
Conversant with rules and regulations related to tunnel safety and requirements on compressed air work
Possess good knowledge in structural, geotechnical and tunnel engineering.
Able to respond to changes and deal with emergency situations.
