**REGULATORY AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS INTERN


What to expect:

The
Regulatory and Public Affairs Intern will provide support to the organisation and its Committees.

Reporting to Leadership Team, this role will support the team to achieve FIA's ambition of being the leading organisation in navigating and shaping the food policy and regulatory developments in Asia.

With close to 40 members companies working closely with FIA, the
Regulatory and Public Affairs Intern can expect to learn about Policy and Regulatory developments related to the food industry, as well as best practice strategies and responses from businesses involved in the manufacturing, supplying and distribution of foods.


Through this internship, you will:

  • Be equipped with the research and analytical skills to navigate the everchanging policy and regulatory environment in Asia
  • Develop expertise in issues related to health and nutrition, trade and sustainability impacting the food industry.
  • Develop expertise in regional food regulations
  • Develop an understanding of the food industry's needs and highlevel advocacy strategies
  • Understand the impact of global trade health policies on the food industry and how the industry could influence policy and legislations
  • Work with senior leaders of various multinational food companies and a dynamic team with diverse expertise and cultural background Develop other job related skills such as project management, issues and stakeholders management and strategic communications.

Main responsibilities include:


  • Monitor and tracking of regional regulatory and food policy developments in Asian countries (ASEAN, China, India, Japan, Korea, etc.) as well as key international bodies (Codex, FAO/WHO, UN, etc) and other regions (e.g. ANZ, Latin America, UK/Europe).
  • Support and maintain databases (FIA Regulatory hubs, a membersonly website aimed at sharing the latest regional/global policy and/or regulatory developments) for relevant regulatory and policy developments on key topics that impact the food industry.
  • Carry out research on the global regional regulatory landscape and associated scientific / policy issues and debates (e.g. ecommerce, gene editing, novel food, trade), conduct impact analysis and give recommendations.
  • Carry out research on the global and regional food policy landscape, especially developments related to the doubleburden of malnutrition and its associated scientific/policy issues and debates (e.g. obesity and NCDs, marketing restrictions, nutrition labelling, taxation), conduct impact analyses, compare policies between legislative bodies, identify gaps, and provide recommendations based on analysis.
  • Support the team in the development and maintenance of official response and communication / engagement strategy documents via data gathering and research
  • Support the team to conduct internal / external research projects with appropriate academic partners including literature reviews and surveys, with appropriate partner organisations / consultants, on topics related to food policy, regulations, consumer trends, supply chain, trade, and capacity building.
  • Support in the organisation of national and regional industry seminars and workshops.
  • Other adhoc duties related to the job.

  • Working hours: Full time (Mon-Fri, 96pm)
