Duties:

The Atlanta VA Health Care System is recruiting for a full-time Physician (Geropsychiatrist) for Clinical Resource Hub service.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct patient care full time and work as a member of an expanded healthcare team (e.g., social worker, psychologist, physical therapist, clinical pharmacists, behavioral health clinician, and a program manager) to oversee and coordinate medical care for a population of Veterans in a group practice.
  • Perform duties as a practitioner and consultant in Geropsychiatry within a variety of clinical settings. May provide care and consultation to community living centers, intensive outpatient services, routine outpatient services, consultation/liaison and/or to disaster response locations.
  • Perform the full range of consultation, evaluation and treatment of emergency, complex and routine cases in the field of geropsychiatry for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders.
  • Provide various treatment therapeutics including medication management, individual, marital and group psychotherapies as indicated.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions beyond the individual Veteran to include family psychotherapy and caregiver stress support as indicated and appropriate.
  • Exercise initiative and sound judgment in establishing evaluation techniques, developing treatment and rehabilitation plans and providing appropriate therapeutic treatment services.
  • Align and collaborate Veteran care as authorized with community providers/partners and programs.
  • Support other programs and initiatives, e.g., Behavioral Health Laboratory, Care Facilitation consultation, as indicated.
  • Remain abreast of and engage in all clinical Mental Health policies, procedures and roll outs at the National, VISN and Local levels, e.g., suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Required to attend staff meetings, team meetings, some committee meetings, and complete some peer review evaluations.
  • Complete assigned talent management system assignments as required.
  • Participate in the monitoring of performance measures that pertain to Outpatient Mental Health Services; gathers data as appropriate for administrative reports.
  • Participate in programwide outcome evaluation studies.
  • Participate in systems redesign activities and projects within the context of continuous process improvement.
  • Develop and implement research projects, prepares grant proposals, in coordination with supervisors and team members.
  • Attend and actively participates in mental health activities (i.e., staff development, residency conferences).
  • Prepare and presents educational lectures to a variety of disciplines as required.
  • Provide formal education and clinical education in area of expertise to medical students and psychiatric residents in training.
  • Provide patient education about diagnoses, therapeutic options, medications, and related topics when appropriate.
  • Attend training to remain informed on VHA Telehealth/Connected Care initiatives and the latest advances in Telehealth/Connected Care delivery.
  • Participate in intra
- and interdepartmental committees, task forces, and projects, as requested by their supervisors.


Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
