    Description
    Roles & Responsibilities

    Responsible for managing the team to produce accurate and appropriate reporting of financial statements and other management reporting in APAC.

    • Support APAC COO and wider APAC management in the analysis, preparation, and investigation of regional financial performance.
    • Daily and Monthly production of key business metrics ensuring the full understanding and accuracy of reporting for local management teams and strategic decision making.
    • Responsible for day to day management of an APAC finance team
    • Responsible for periodic front-office pay-out calculation, review, and distribution. As well as engaging with APAC/Global management, HR, and business on signoff.
    • Drives monthly budget vs actual performance analysis, preparation of management reports and presentation to management.
    • Support wider COO team driving new business initiatives, driving new products or jurisdictions.
    • Partner with cross functional teams in APAC and Global offices to provide financial advice to stakeholders for decision making.
    • Responsible for annual financial statement presentation for APAC entities, including the local external audit engagements.
    • Responsible for P&L and Balance Sheet related controls, month end close processes for APAC business and entities. This includes controls around cost of trades, desk bonuses and analysis of expenses.
    • Responsible for front to back view of controls and completion of month-end balance sheet substantiation and explaining movements.
    • Production of financial regulatory monitoring and returns for APAC entities. Production of periodic MI and commentaries for senior management.
    • Local responsibility for Australian taxation requirements, liaising with wider global tax team.
    • Drive improvements agenda to the control infrastructure and ad-hoc projects that arise relating to further streamlining of existing systems or assisting in the implementation of new systems.
    • Onboard new desks and facilitate desk changes from product control perspective.
    • Liaise with desks heads, risk, middle office, and back office to resolve trade exceptions and business reporting.
    • Understand the wider APAC business's entity structure and resulting transfer pricing (TP) arrangement and be able to explain pre- and post- TP entity level results.
    • Ensuring compliance with the company's regulatory requirements in APAC.
    • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

    Competencies

    • Professional accounting qualification with at least 5 years' post qualification experience in financial services
    • Qualified or part qualified accountant (e.g. CPA, CGMA, ACCA)
    • University Degree, Masters or above preferred
    • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
    • Ability to challenge status quo, think outside the box and continuously improve/automate processes
    • Strong communication skills – ability to articulate P&L and balance sheet movements/drivers to senior management and ability to deal with the front office
    • High self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
    • Strategic collaborator with insight and agility, able to anticipate future challenges, ensuring operational effectiveness

    Skills and Experience

    • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software
    • Min 8 years' experience in related role
    • Experience with PeopleSoft accounting software is a plus
    • Experience in other APAC jurisdictions is valued
    • Experience in a broking, clearing or trading business preferred
    • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
