Summary:

The Metals Global Commodity Manager shall develop sourcing strategy for all goods and services. Negotiates and manages contracts and relationships with vendors. Implements policies and metrics to ensure that savings goals are realized. Works with technical buyers, engineers, product managers, development teams and upper management to identify new product needs.

Identifies new partners to best meet business requirements. Has responsibility for quality control of vendor products.

IThe Global Metals Commodity Manager shall execute and grow the vendor strategy to align PerkinElmer with best-matched vendor-partners to support each of our production sites and distribution centers.


Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Driving and analyzing RFI / RFP's.
  • Maintain Global Vendor relationships with ownership to costs, quality and compliance to PerkinElmer Policy and applicable law
  • Drive strategy of vendor selection for the production sites and the distribution centers
  • Coordinating with R&D, Purchasing, Operations and Logistics to prepare and review standard cost reports.
  • Ability to take calculated risks and reduce the nonvalue add and ensure a designtocost (DtC) mindset.
  • Coordinating projects such as new business and new products to optimize the Business model, Engineering Material, Logistics and Manufacturing process.
  • Overseeing the development of product cost for various component, systems and modules as well as coordinating interior resource to generate automatic standard cost system and database;
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to all team members

Basic Qualifications:

- (2-3 minimum, measurable requirements)_

  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering or other related field, with strong business acumen.
MBA a plus

  • 8+ years of Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain Management or Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong Project Management skill set
  • Experience with NPI Development
  • Proficient knowledge of Metals (and other) commodities
  • Certification from the Institute of Supply Management (C.P.S.M.), (CPIM)
  • E-Sourcing software
  • Excellent leadership, organization, project management, communications, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables, and projects
