    Description

    Media new product launch is to provide technical solutions to new media design qualification, yield improvement, Operating Efficiency improvement, quality enhancement and reliability improvement through developing new process and metrology. The team also needs to work closely with media design R&D group, different cross functional teams and drive design center to continue to optimize media process in order to meet product electric-magnetic recording performance as well as mechanical, tribology, manufacturability.

    About the role - you will:

    Reporting to the Engineering Director, the incumbent will:

  • Perform research and development project on HAMR sputter process to improve media ADC and mechanical performance to meet new product timeline.
  • Conduct research projects on advanced media developments to explore design trade-offs and conclude decisions.
  • Design developments schedules and present results.
  • Perform Design of Experiments on media designs and structural analysis.
  • Transfer new product process into mass production and perform process improvement to meet customer requirements.
  • About you:

  • Ph.D. or Master Degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electronics Communications Engineering or related field of study.
  • Possess strong research background in Magnetic thin film media, thin film synthesis, magnetic material properties, advanced characterization and knowledge in magnetic recording.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and Design of Experiment (DOE).
  • Demonstrated teamwork and self-motivated, with fast learning capabilities.
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle and manage stressful situation.
  • Demonstrated innovation abilities, good written, verbal, interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Your experience includes:

  • Excellent breadth and depth of technical capabilities and work effectively within a highly dynamic and capable team.
  • Knowledge and skills in any of these areas – Material science, Magnetic recording knowledge, thin film sputter process is an advantage.
  • R&D in magnetic recording media process, including process DOE, magnetic characterization tools, and data analysis techniques.
  • Highly proficient in English language.
