    Roles & Responsibilities

    JOB Role

    • The Technical Superintendent has the overall responsibility for the safe, economic and efficient operation of vessels assigned. He/She ensures ships are managed and operated in accordance with organisational policies, operating procedures and management systems. He/She is also alert to analyse risks and ensures compliance to the organisation's risk management framework.
    • The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent ensures that all procedures are adhered to and comply with International Safety Management (ISM) and classification rules. He/She may also be required to liaise directly with the ship-owner and respond to any charter or technical and operational queries.
    • The Technical Superintendent/Senior Technical Superintendent possesses a strong understanding of the technical knowledge of ships and keeps abreast of industry standards and regulations. He/She is well organised, is able to work in a team and may occasionally be required to sail onboard ships.

    Tasks

    • Acquire and allocate resources to support operations.
    • Analyse market data to identify business opportunities.
    • Analyse nature and causes of serious breakdowns and damages.
    • Analyse risk management data.
    • Conduct appraisals of crew members.
    • Consult with manufacturers for specialist advice and guidance.
    • Coordinate with service engineers and contractors.
    • Maintain relationships with shipowners.
    • Manage compliance with risk management frameworks, policies and processes.
    • Monitor operating costs and submit quarterly budget follow-up reports.
    • Monitor ship defect list.
    • Oversee allocation of resources to ships.
    • Oversee ship compliance with regulatory requirements and legislation.
    • Prepare specifications and evaluate tenders.
    • Propose improvements to workflows to improve efficiency.
    • Update clients on ship status and schedule
