The Role

The Director of Sales & Marketing is one of the key members of the EXCO team and whose primary responsibility will be leading the sales and marketing functions of the hotel.

This role is responsible for developing a sales and marketing strategy covering all segments and channels to maximize total revenue and profit performance as well as market share penetration of the Hotel.


  • Manage, lead and develop the hotel Sales & Marketing team to support the sales and marketing strategies and to deliver exceptional, profitable sales growth and results.
  • Provide strategic sales leadership to ensure the hotel achieves profitable revenue growth, continues to increase market share, develop innovative selling competencies, and builds a sustainable industry leadership position for the hotel.
  • Advise management team on sales and marketing direction, competitors and industry trends.
  • Fully understand how the hotel is regarded in the community in conjunction with a thorough knowledge of the competitive situation in terms of business mix of competitors, pricing and rate structures, sales and advertising strategies and future hotel planning within the community.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to plan and develop marketing strategies, promotion plans and budget based on market and competitive environment to achieve the resorts desired business objectives.
  • Maintain annual oversight of the sales & marketing performance strategies as presented in the hotel's business plan and provide remedial direction and actions as required
  • Using both internal data, supply analysis and leading economic indicators to asses business levels across both the short and long term for the hotel
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize business mix and work with the revenue team to formulate pricing strategies
  • Practice professional account qualification on a consistent basis (i.e., measure budget needs, date flexibility, space requirement, competitive information etc)
  • Attend tradeshows, travel functions, major business functions or as required/directed by the Hotel Management
  • Motivate and ensure that sales associate achieve their individual and team goals
  • Work together with the management team on the development of the annual Business Plan and Hotel Budget.
  • Create excellent client relationship through attention to detail; prompt follow up and empathy for customer perceptions and needs whilst maintaining professionalism
  • Fully uphold Pan Pacific's branding strategies in conjunction with brand management.
Talent Profile

  • Possess minimum of 10 years of Sales & Marketing experience within the hospitality industry of which minimum of 3 years as Director of Sales & Marketing in a 5star hotel
  • Minimum Diploma from a recognised hospitality or tertiary institution.
  • Proven track record in generating revenue within a luxury hotel both locally and across geographical/industry markets
  • Strong working knowledge of forecasting, pricing, rate and inventory management.
  • Has exposure to developing and formulating department or team goals
  • Wide network of contacts in relevant fields
  • A broadbased experience with technology and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership capability.
  • Hands on, driven and selfmotivated individual business acumen with excellent personality.
  • Possesses high level of integrity, respect for others and strong client focus
  • A positive personality with a hunter attitude who is energised and resilient
  • Excellent communicator with robust presentation skills. Able to persuade and obtain "buyin" from both internal and external stakeholders.
