- Design and develop captivating and motivational gamification elements for web-based cognitive tasks
- Conduct research on cognitive training tasks, gamification principles, and user engagement strategies relevant to the project
- Work closely with cognitive scientists, psychologists, and educators to gain a thorough understanding of the specific requirements and objectives of each cognitive task
- Work closely with app developers to provide guidance on the implementation of research findings and technical requirements
- Conduct user research for design validation and continuous improvement
- Managing and developing in-house IT, data management infrastructure (e.g. REDCap) and web-based solutions, including server maintenance
- Maintaining and integrating the database from the different work packages/sections of the research project
- Assisting the designated Academics/Researchers who are work package leads in accessing data
- Providing technical and programming support for electronic and web-based delivery of experimental tasks (using platforms such as Inquisit, Gorilla, CANTAB)
- Providing technical support and maintenance for specialist experimental equipment and computer hardware (e.g., EEG, eye trackers, TMS equipment)
- Developing and maintaining in-house data processing and analysis pipelines (e.g. Matlab, Python) in collaboration with scientific staff
- Maintaining communication and information systems for CLIC (e.g., email lists, intranet, assisting CARES with CLIC website matters)
- Designing and developing new cost-effective IT solutions to support on-going research
- Assisting with videos, conferences and media engagement as needed
- Proven skills in web-based game development, gamification, game design, or user experience design
- A Master's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years' experience in IT administration, especially in IT network maintenance, database management and web development
- Excellent programming skills (in C, Python, R or Matlab)
- Knowledge of signal processing and basic electronics
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and able to work within given deadlines
- Game/app development experience in the context of cognitive training, neuropsychological assessment, or e-learning
- Knowledge data protection and data transfer regulations
- Familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and equipment (MRI/EEG/TMS)
- Familiarity with image data analysis tools such as SPM, FSL, AFNI, DSIStudio, Python
- Understanding of machine learning and neural networks
- Data management experience with REDCap
- Self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed
