    Roles & Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Ambulance Wish Singapore's staff, volunteers, programmes, expansion, and execution of its mission.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership & Management:

    Provide leadership to AWS in the design, delivery and quality of the organisation's programme to meet the needs of terminally ill patients and their families, so as to provide the desired end of life experience.

    Ensure ongoing programmatic and operational excellence, rigorous programme evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.

    Design the national expansion and complete the strategic business planning process for programme expansion.

    Actively engage and energize Ambulance Wish Singapore volunteers, board members, partnering organizations, donors, sponsors and funders.

    Work closely with the Board on the vision, mission and strategy for the organisation.

    Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction.

    Lead, coach and develop Ambulance Wish Singapore's team.

    Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.

    Supervise and direct strategic initiatives, corporate governance, resource management, organisation and capability development.

    Finance and Operations

    Work with the Finance Director/Manager to:

    Recommend the yearly budget for Board approval and manage the organization's resources within budget guidelines

    Ensure robust financial and operational processes, in accordance with the regulatory framework and in consultation with the Governance Committee

    Develops and reviews frameworks for the organisation's operating guidelines and standards, directs the implementation of corporate policies in accordance with governance regulations and drives improvement in service delivery and operational efficiency.

    Human Resource Management

    Determine staffing requirements for organisational management and programme delivery

    Ensure efficient organization and use of human resources to achieve organisational goals

    Set clear targets for staff and put in place a clear performance evaluation and staff compensation system.

    Ensure proper staff orientation and training

    Supervise volunteer utilisation strategy and direct a robust and effective volunteer management processes

    Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment for all staff and volunteers

    Fundraising, Partnerships & Communications:

    Work with Fundraising Director/Manager to:

    Direct fundraising strategy to expand revenue generating and fundraising activities

    Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.

    Direct events, programmes and publications to increase public awareness of AWS and our mission.

    Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.

    Build partnership with healthcare, community care and palliative care organisations, establishing relationships with the funders, and community leaders.

    Qualifications

    The ED will be thoroughly committed to Ambulance Wish Singapore's mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, corporate governance and strategy, and relationship management experience.

    Specific requirements include:

    A degree from a recognised university with at least 5 years of senior management experience; track record of driving growth, innovating and inspiring teams for success; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.

    Values philanthropy, social mission and have a strong desire to contribute to palliative care by transforming the end-of-life experience of terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

    Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams (including volunteers), set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

    Marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

    Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal to manage team and volunteers and interact with the Board.

    Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning

    Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
