Our client is a global leader in the aviation industry and Singapore is a key APAC hub. With a focus on technological advancements and sustainability, they are a leading player in the global aerospace market.

They are recruiting for a General Counsel to lead the APAC legal and compliance functions.

You will manage a team of legal and compliance counsels across the region, and act as legal and business advisor to the regional leadership team.


In this role, you will oversee and lead the group's corporate and M&A activities, this includes acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and other strategic transactions.

Additionally, you will provide comprehensive legal advice on commercial legal, regulatory and compliance matters as they arise. The ability to build relationships and trust with key stakeholders is critical in this highly visible role.

Role & Responsibility

  • Manage a team of legal and compliance counsels across the region, accounting for their performance and ensuring adequate legal & compliance support within the group.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements with domestic and international customers, suppliers, and partners, including managing claims and resolving disputes.
  • Partnering with senior management and business stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and address legal implications and potential risks for the company.
  • Oversee corporate activities and governance matters.
  • Develop, oversee, and improve the organization's compliance system, ensuring that adherence to regulations and policies is seamlessly integrated into standard business practices in line with the company's guidelines.

Requirements:


  • Common law qualified with an LLB from a recognized institution.
  • At least 10 to 15 years' PQE gained from a mix of law firm and inhouse capacity, ideally within a relevant business with a regional coverage (APAC).
  • Direct management experience managing remote teams with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, providing pragmatic and highquality commercial advice with a high level of influence to senior management.
  • A team player, willingness to collaborate across functions to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization capabilities to deliver dynamic workload under deadline pressure.
