Roles & Responsibilities

Sheetmetal Fabrication:
Fabricating, shaping, and forming sheetmetal parts and components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, or specifications.

This involves using tools such as shears, brakes, drills, and riveting equipment to cut, bend, shape, and assemble sheetmetal parts.


Structural Repairs:
Repairing damaged or worn aircraft structures and sheetmetal components.

This includes identifying and assessing structural damage, removing damaged sections, fabricating replacement parts, and performing repairs using techniques such as riveting, welding, bonding, or composite patching.


Assembly and Installation:
Assembling and installing sheetmetal components, panels, and fairings onto aircraft structures. This involves aligning, fitting, and fastening sheetmetal parts using various methods such as riveting, bolting, or bonding. Sheetmetal technicians ensure that components are securely installed and meet required tolerances.


Composite Materials:
Working with composite materials in addition to sheetmetal.

This includes fabricating, repairing, and installing composite structures, such as carbon fiber or fiberglass components, using techniques specific to composite materials.


Inspection and Testing:
Performing inspections to detect and identify structural defects, corrosion, or other damage.

Sheetmetal technicians use visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and measurement tools to assess structural integrity and compliance with safety regulations.


Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of work performed, including repairs, modifications, inspections, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Sheetmetal technicians document measurements, materials used, repair procedures, and other relevant information to ensure traceability and regulatory compliance.


Collaboration:

Collaborating with other aviation professionals, including engineers, mechanics, and inspectors, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of aircraft structures.

Sheetmetal technicians often work as part of a team, providing input, sharing information, and assisting with resolving structural-related issues.


Job Requirements:


  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a sheetmetal or structure technician.
- experience handling both Boeing and airbus aircraft.
- background and in aviation/aerospace, aircraft maintenance.
- able to start work immediately preferred.
