Summary of Position


Through collaboration among industry, government, and academia, the ASTM Global Advanced Manufacturing Division addresses not only the need for accelerated standards development models to help qualify these growing markets but also the personnel training and certification programs needed for those now tasked with a more diverse set of responsibilities.


The ASTM Global Advanced Manufacturing Division conducts R&D projects, technology road mapping sessions, strategic guidance reports as well as landscape analysis to help organizations adopt AM and other Advanced Manufacturing technologies.

Some of these projects are a result of cross-continent efforts coordinated and supported by the division.

We are seeking an individual to take on the role of Business Development Manager. This position will support various activities engaging with indsutry, academia, research institutes and consortium pertaining to advanced manufacturing technologies. The incumbent will also be required to drive the expansion of various initiatives in the region. In addition, the incumbent will have global exposure to ASTM Global Advanced Manufacturing Division's activities and programs.


Specifically, the Business Development Manager will:

  • Identify opportunities and develop relationships with stakeholders in advanced manufacturing such as additive manufacturing and robotics, automation and autonomous system
  • Determine and evaluate regional market needs and provide custom solutions
  • Support the coordination of programs and activities across regional locations (US/EU/APAC)
  • Keep track of the progress, maintain and document regional opportunities
  • Identify potential collaboration opportunities
  • Drive exploration of funding opportunities and development of proposals
  • Conduct technical presentations, as required by business or external invitation
Please note that travel will be required for this position (up to 25%).


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial System Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in areas of advanced manufacturing such as additive manufacturing and robotics, automation and autonomous system
  • Strong business development acumen and demonstrated background in business development, customer support, and customer relation management
  • Familiarity with or interest in I4.0 technologies
  • Ability to take up ownership to plan and organize tasks and meet targets
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Technologysavvy and keen to explore, learn, and make use of new technologies
  • Good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in a teamoriented environment
  • Highintegrity, balanced selfstarter possessing independent decisionmaking abilities
  • Technically motivated to solve problems and have the creativity to initiate new ideas
  • Highly adaptive, resourceful, and detailoriented
  • Proven record of analytical thinking, problem solving, and meeting targets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the convergence of adjacent emerging technologies across various industries
  • Demonstrated experience in using project management tools such as Wrike and MS Project that can improve productivity and fulfill deliverables on time
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively with all levels of management and translate them into meaningful project outcomes
  • Knowledge of existing regulations and certification/licensing requirements on advanced manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience with managing relationships in a highly demanding environment
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines and contribute to adhoc projects
