    [What the role is]

    The Deputy Director will lead the team to develop and implement a strategic approach towards corporate communications for the organisation. This includes building and refining the corporate message house in collaboration with stakeholders and within the Comms & Marketing Division (CMD).

    S/He will be responsible for the IMDA brand in terms of development, management and governance of the brand and its relevant assets within the organisation. The candidate will also be responsible for building and maintaining key media relations and engagement for both local and international publications.

    Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine message house for IMDA as a corporate organisation, building overarching narratives that will shape the perception of IMDA amongst target audience groups
  • Work within CMD team structure to shape messaging arcs across organisation, ensuring coherence in IMDA's narratives and messaging across multiple audience groups
  • Oversee all aspects of media management work for IMDA-wide engagements, including preparation of media briefings, materials, media pitches and interview requests, and where necessary, preparation of talking points for IMDA's senior management's thought leadership speaking engagements and speeches
  • Develop necessary corporate level collateral and assets in support of IMDA key events, which includes both external and internal facing events
  • Lead and coordinate efforts with other government agencies and ministries as required
  • Use media monitoring tools and analytics to measure effectiveness of communication messaging, inform policies and initiatives, as well as to nudge behavioural change
  • Lead the brand development, management and governance for IMDA brand in terms of brand values, brand look & feel, brand tone-of-voice, as well as adherence to corporate guidelines
  • Development of necessary branded templates for use across organisation, covering print media, on-ground activation, event and BTL collateral; work
  • Evaluate current brand assets and brand architecture and provide strategic input on necessary (re)development, alignment and consolidation work to ensure consistent brand experience across all touchpoints
  • Manage regular brand health tracker survey with vendor, including reporting of results to management and other key stakeholders, identify gaps and discuss/action next steps with necessary team leads to address such gaps
  • Partner Group Heads & Division HODs for Business Groups to understand their communication and business priorities and effectively develop and implement communications plans that deliver impactful communication
  • Drive development work in partnership with HR team to develop communications for employer branding, staff advocacy and staff engagement programmes
  • Develop and manage social media platform presence for senior management in terms of content calendaring and content management
  • Lead and manage team members to further develop their capabilities and skillsets, continually improving standards of output from team
  • Requirements

    To thrive and be successful in this role, you must have / be:

  • A strategic and dynamic leader, with at least 12-15 years of relevant experience in communication, media and journalism
  • Government communications experience will be a benefit, with at least years in a supervisory role
  • Excellent media relations, written and spoken communication skills, with strong ability to nuance sensitive messaging and to make sound decisions
  • Adept at collaborating and managing multiple stakeholders internally and externally, as well as being able to prioritise work for team to ensure quality output is met
  • Experienced people manager with the interest to coach and develop staff
  • Strong team player who can work collaboratively within and across teams
  • Strong understanding and interest in technology, prior experience in ICT sectors is a plus
  • Position will be commensurate with experience.
